giving

WHY WE GIVE

The Bible is clear that Christians ought to give money to gospel ministry. It’s an indication that we are trusting in God for our needs.

Giving is a response of gratitude for the generosity of God in giving us his Son, Jesus, who gave his life as a ransom for our sins.

OUR ATTITUDE WHEN WE GIVE

The New Testament does not call on Christians to tithe. That is an Old Testament law. It does however, give us three attitudes that are to accompany giving:

We give sacrificially: Giving sacrificially means giving what we can’t afford to give.

We give generously: Generosity in the Bible is not measured by how much we give, but by how much we have left.

We give cheerfully: Giving cheerfully means giving willingly and not under compulsion.

HOW WE GIVE

At St Timothy's there are a two ways to give:

During our service there is a time where those who attend our church regularly are afforded an opportunity to give.
